Resveritrol, Reservatrol, and Resveratrol- What are they?
For one, they are all the same. The correct spelling is resveratrol, but many times it is also spelled as one of the other two.
Resveratrol is gaining lots of attention for its many possible health benefits. It is a naturally occurring substance, that is produced by many plants, most noteably the grapes used to make red wine. It is also found in blueberries, mullberries,peanuts and Japanese knotweed.
The French have been studied due to the paradox between their high fat diet, but decreased incidence of heart disease and decreased cholesterol. It was long suspected that their increased intake of red wine in some way accounted for this paradox. The discovery of resveritro began to shed light on this theory. It was found to be in high concentation in red wines. Research initially demonstrated that resveritol would lower cholesterol and also had other protective properties as far as the heart and blood vessel.
